TÜV Rheinland surveyed companies exhibiting at the 2015 Hannover Messe trade fair on the current state of Industry 4.0.
Integrated industry was the main point of focus at the Hannover Messe (13–17 April 2015), one of the most important international technology and industry trade fairs with over 6,400 exhibitors and 220,000 industry professionals in attendance from numerous countries. The event focused on interconnected production plants, intelligent robots, new automation solutions, and research and development.
TÜV Rheinland exhibited at two booths where it presented its broad range of services, including solutions for the energy sector and data security. The TÜV Rheinland booths also proved popular with recent university graduates who came to speak with representatives from the human resources department about career opportunities at the company.
At this year’s fair TÜV Rheinland focused its efforts on the Industry 4.0 survey. Companies from Germany, the U.S., Western Europe, and Asia participated in the cross-sector survey.
The aim of the survey was to find out what progress they have made, where they see potential, and what obstacles they expect to face when implementing Industry 4.0. There were also questions about the opportunities and risks associated with Industry 4.0 and about measures companies from different sectors and of various sizes are currently implementing or planning to implement.
Here are just a few questions asked as part of the survey:
How do companies define Industry 4.0?
What progress have they made to date and what is planned for the future?
What are the key issues surrounding implementation?
The results of the survey will be available for free download in mid-May in English at www.tuv-e3.com.
